The chromium plating layer for engineering is used to be called "hard chromium plating".
①Good wear resistance, the chrome-plated layer can obtain different hardness of 400~1200HV according to different process specifications. The sliding friction coefficient is about 50% of steel and cast iron, and it has anti-adhesion properties.
②Good corrosion resistance. The chrome-plated layer is passivated on the surface under slight oxidation, forming a thin and transparent passivation film, which does not change color for a long time at room temperature, and protects the chrome-plated layer.
③The strength of the chrome-plated layer decreases with the increase in thickness. The bonding strength between the chrome-plated layer and the substrate is higher than the bonding strength between its own crystals, while the tensile strength and fatigue strength decrease with the increase of the thickness of the coating. Therefore, the thickness of the chromium plating layer should generally be ≤0.3mm.
