Duplex tubes produced under specification ASTM A789 are designed to withstand stress related corrosion cracking. Though the emphasis is placed on dealing with stress related corrosion cracking, the ASTM A789 Tubing material may also be used in areas that are prone to general corrosion.
Duplex tubes produced under specification ASTM A789 are designed to withstand stress related corrosion cracking. Though the emphasis is placed on dealing with stress related corrosion cracking, the ASTM A789 Tubing material may also be used in areas that are prone to general corrosion. Yet, the specification states that the ASTM A789 UNS S31803 Heat Exchanger Tube must not be used in applications which require them to be placed at elevated temperatures for a prolonged duration.
This is because exposing them for a long duration to high temperatures could cause the ASTM A789 Duplex 2205 Tubing to become brittle, and thus, result in eventual failure. Keeping in accordance with the specification the material must conform to the chemical composition and the norma ASTM A789 U Bent Tubes have to undergo a product analysis along with a heat analysis procedure, as mandated. The specification also makes provisions for the furnishing of ASTM A789 Seamless Tube. For instance, all the tubes are to undergo heat treatment procedures in such a manner that the temperature of the heat along with the quench conditions that are undertaken by the ASTM A789 Duplex Tubing material conform to the specification. Along with certain types of tests performed on the materials, the ASTM A789 Boiler Tube is mandatorily required to meet the prescribed tensile as well as the hardness properties.
